TL;DR
ACRCloud is a dedicated recognition and broadcast monitoring vendor with a very large fingerprint database, 50,000+ radio and TV stations already indexed, years of purchasable history, and custom fingerprint databases for your own audio. On breadth, they are ahead of us, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Sonovault is narrower on purpose. You nominate the stations, we watch those, and every confirmed play lands in your own log carrying an ISRC that opens the rest of a 90M+ track metadata graph from the same API key. Pricing is published, signup is self-serve, and the detection engine is written up in public.
Pick by shape, not by vendor size. Need TV, a pre-indexed global panel, back catalogue, or your own audio fingerprinted at scale? That is ACRCloud. Need a defined set of stations, an identifier on every play, and a bill you can predict? That is us. Most people searching for an ACRCloud alternative are in the second group, and are surprised how much of the bill was coverage they never read.

Which one fits the job?
These are not the same product with different logos. The split is whether you want a panel you query or a set of stations you own the log for.

- You need a pre-indexed panel of tens of thousands of stations worldwide
- You need airplay history from before you became a customer
- You need your own proprietary audio (masters, ad spots) fingerprinted at scale
- You need humming search, an offline SDK, or second-screen ACR
- Raw recognition breadth is the single deciding criterion
- You care about a specific list of stations, not a global panel
- You want an ISRC on every play, and the ISWC and label behind it
- You want to budget from a published price without a sales call
- You want recognition and metadata from one vendor and one key
- You want to read how the detection engine works before you buy
- Non-developers need to add a station and pull a report themselves
A panel you query, or a log you own
ACRCloud's broadcast monitoring is built around a panel. They index tens of thousands of radio and TV stations continuously, and you query what that panel heard, including years before you signed up. If your question is “where in the world did this record get played”, a panel is the only structure that can answer it, and ours cannot.
Sonovault inverts it. You register the stations that matter to you and we monitor exactly those, continuously, from that moment on. The log belongs to your account rather than being a slice of a shared dataset. That is worse for discovery and better for everything downstream: you know precisely which stations are covered, the price is a function of a number you chose, and the log is yours to query, export, and report from without asking what the panel happened to include.
The honest version of the trade: if you do not know which stations matter yet, a panel is worth paying for. If you do know, paying for a panel is paying for coverage you will not read. That is the case where an ACRCloud alternative is worth looking at, and the case this page is written for.
Our numbers, on our corpus, not a comparison
Recognition vendors are usually compared with numbers nobody can reproduce. We are not going to add to that, so here is exactly what we ran and what came back.
1,203 electronic and 320 pop, matched against filename ground truth.
1,347 of 1,523 through the raw audio upload path, where you hand us the file.
So most of the residual error is ranking rather than a missing fingerprint.
Measured 2026-07-15 against the live endpoint. The corpus is deliberately skewed toward electronic music because that is where our catalog is deepest, so treat the headline as a best case for that genre rather than a general figure. Scoring counts a variant or title-only match as correct, which absorbs catalog naming noise but makes the number a few points optimistic against a strict artist and title comparison.
This is not a comparison with ACRCloud. We have never run the two side by side on the same corpus, so we cannot tell you who wins, and we would rather say that than imply a result we did not measure. Their fingerprint database is broader than ours, particularly outside commercially released music. If breadth is your deciding factor, believe them over us.
One thing the numbers do show: recognition is strongest when you hand us the audio file. Broadcast is harder than a clean file for everyone, because playout systems shift pitch and tempo and talk over intros. That is what the monitoring engine is built to survive.

A recognition result is a question, not an answer
Knowing which track played is rarely the end of the job. What most products need next is everything attached to it.
With a dedicated recognition vendor, the second half is your problem: a second provider, a second contract, and a reconciliation job between two catalogs that disagree about which row is the same recording. That reconciliation is the part teams underestimate.
On Sonovault the match is a key into the same catalog every other endpoint reads. One id, and the ISRC, the ISWC behind the recording, the label, the release date, the genre, and the track's IDs on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Beatport, Discogs, and MusicBrainz are all one call away, on the same key and the same bill.

The same applies to a stream. Every row of an airplay report already carries the ISRC, which is the field a royalty workflow needs and the field a play log almost never has. See the stream monitoring reference for the endpoints.
Published numbers, and a number we cannot print
Ours, in full: monitoring is EUR 29 per active station per month, billed only while the station is running, on top of any API plan including the free one. Reading your own now-playing, history, and airplay reports burns no API credits. API plans are free for 1,000 requests a month, then EUR 29 for 50K, EUR 99 for 500K, and EUR 249 for 5M, with a flat 20% off annual billing. Clip recognition costs 10 credits per fingerprint, or 10 plus 1 credit per MB if you upload the audio.
ACRCloud's side of that comparison is the part we cannot write. They do not publish a rate card: their pricing page routes you to console signup or a contact form. So we are not going to print a price comparison, because we would be inventing one half of it, and a comparison built on a guess is worth nothing to you.
What we will say is structural, and you can verify it in thirty seconds. Our price is on a public page and you can multiply it by your station count before you talk to anyone. Theirs requires a conversation first. If you are costing a project this quarter, that difference is the one that actually affects you.
We publish the mechanism, not just the claim
Monitoring vendors generally describe capability and keep the mechanism private. We wrote ours up instead: a dedicated listener per station, overlapping analysis windows, two different recognition methods running side by side with the engine learning which one wins on each station, a per-station hot set held in memory, and a confirmation gate that keeps a track out of your log until several consecutive windows agree.

When ACRCloud is simply the right call
We would rather you buy the right tool than buy ours. These are the cases where the answer is not us.
Tens of thousands of stations already indexed, television included, and history reaching back years. We monitor what you register, audio only, starting the day you register it.
Recognising unreleased masters, ad spots, or bespoke content at scale is their product. Our watchlist monitoring covers a slice of this, but it is by request and it is not a general purpose custom database.
On-device recognition, humming search, and second-screen ACR are all real ACRCloud products and all outside our REST-only scope.
A dedicated vendor lives or dies on that metric and invests accordingly. If the deciding question is which service recognises the widest range of audio, assume it is not us.
